A post about winter in the summer? That makes no sense! But it does...it's the name of a beautifully sad song by Kina Grannis that really touches my heart. I feel so much when I hear it and sing it. From the moment I first heard the song, before she even released her new album, I loved it. She was inspired by dead flowers when writing this song. These are the types of songwriting skills I hope to be able to gain and use someday for my songs. Anyway, here it is, my cover of Winter. Sorry for the strange angle, I was recording it on a video camera and couldn't see myself, so I didn't know it looked weird. Also I know it's not perfect and I probably sound bad at a lot of parts, but just try to look past that lol. I recorded the guitar and percussion parts separately beforehand in garageband, then recorded the singing/video, then did some harmonies over. Let me know what you think! Thank you for watching <3 I've decided to start a thing on my blog called "Today at my internship..." And anytime something interesting/out of the ordinary happens at my internship, I will post about it here! Starting with today...today was a very interesting day! I'm interning with a radio show called The News Junkie on Real Radio 104.1 with hosts Shawn, C-Lane, and Sabrina. Today I slapped C-Lane and Sabrina slapped Shawn on the air...and it was really funny. Check out the big slap (Sabrina v. Shawn) below! If you want to hear why there was slapping, and listen to my slap(s) live, check out the podcast below!
So in honor of her, and her new baby, I am posting my cover of one of Kelly's songs "My Life Would Suck Without You"!
Also, I'm posting a pretty happy/smiley video of my original song, "With You" to further counteract the normal negative/scary connotations of "Friday the 13th". The harmonies I recorded over could be considered "haunting" (since they're a little weird, maybe minor at some parts), but other than that, it's a really light song with a nice, joyful message. I hope you can relate to the words and I hope you enjoy this video! Thank you for watching & reading. You rock :D Yesterday we entered our family business, The Olive Grove of Venice into the Fast Company: Drive Your Business Forward contest to win a FREE Mercedes Sprinter Van! My mom gave me some footage to work with and edit, and I wrote a script to help give her some ideas/inspiration. My little brother, Alan, filmed a lot of the video. This was a family effort! We found out about the contest pretty late, but we whipped together something that could hopefully have a chance of winning! Our business has really been struggling, and the van would let The Olive Grove go completely mobile to save our business. Please watch our short, 90 second entry to learn more about The Olive Grove. News! I've decided to post videos I'm posting to YouTube to my blog every Friday! I am always not the most confident person...and I often think my videos aren't that good. But if I'm posting them to YouTube, I might as well post them to my website. Especially if I want to get more serious about music. I know they're not all perfect, but they're a part of me...and they're good practice! I'm going to be doing covers every week and soon I'll be posting more originals! If you like my style, please subscribe to my channel! This is a cover of one of my favorites, Bubbly by Colbie Caillat. My mom recorded this at our store in Venice, Florida over winter break. I've been missing my family lately, and reminiscing old memories...so I'm kind of posting this in honor of that. Let me know what you think! And as always, thank you for watching! :) |
